February 22, 2006
Chikka Asia, Inc., the company behind the popular internet-to-mobile-phone messaging application Chikka Messenger, participated in the recently concluded 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
"Our participation at this year’s 3GSM World Congress is a milestone for our company. As the only Filipino company exhibiting at the event, it firmly establishes us as a leader and pioneer in wireless application services development from the world’s ‘text capital.’ This is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase mobile messaging-based applications and platforms that are tried and tested in some of the world’s most demanding mobile markets," said Roland Benzon, chief alliances officer of Chikka Asia.
The annual GSM (global system for mobile communications) World Congress brings together the top players of the international mobile industry. It is attended by over 50,000 participants every year.
Mobile hardware manufacturers and software developers from all over the world exhibit various mobile services, products and solutions during the event.
This year’s conference had for its keynote speakers Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer, Nokia president and chief operating officer Olli-Pekka Kallasvuio and Ericsson president and chief executive officer Carl-Henric Svanberg.
"This event puts us on level with the movers and shakers of the global mobile industry. It is also the first time we are showcasing Chikka’s flagship mobile instant messenger --Ý‘the next killer app’ that GSM Congress participants have discussed in previous congresses, but which Chikka, as early as 2000, proceeded to build and launch in no less than the world’s SMS capital," Mr. Benzon added.
